PatientWing User Permissions Guide
PatientWing comes with a user role management system which defines what a specific user can and cannot do on the platform. Knowing these user roles and permissions are essential. In this guide to PatientWing user roles, we will compare each PatientWing user role and permissions in an easy to follow infographic.
There are nine default user roles:
1. Administrator
2. Principal Investigator
3. Investigator
4. Coordinator
5. Sponsor
6. Study User
7. Organization Admin
8. Organization User
9. Patient

Alternatively, you can read the summary of each user role permissions below. Let’s start by looking at each default user role and their permissions.
1. Administrator
Administrator is the most powerful user role. The administrator have full control of the PatientWing website.
Users with the administrator role can install, edit, and delete plugins as well as themes. Mostly importantly an administrator user can add new users to the system, change information about existing users as well as delete any user.
2. Principal Investigator
Users with principal investigator role on PatientWing can manage study patients and campaigns, view study calendar and analytics and edit study settings.
Principal Investigators do not have access to other study sites and study users.
3. Investigator
Users with investigator role on PatientWing have exactly the same permissions and restrictions as principal investigators have.
4. Coordinator
Users with coordinator role on PatientWing have the same permissions and restrictions as principal investigators. Beyond that, coordinators can also view audit logs of a patient.
5. Sponsor
Users with sponsor role on PatientWing can manage study campaigns and study sites, view study calendar and analytics and edit study settings.
Sponsors do not have access to study patients and study users, as well as study site details.
6. Study User
Users with study user role on PatientWing can view study patients, campaigns, study calendar and analytics.
Study users do not have access to any study related settings.
7. Organization Admin
Organization admin users on PatientWing can view and change their organization's settings, and add/edit/remove organization users as well.
Organization admin users do not have access to studies to which they haven't been given access.
8. Organization User
Organization users on PatientWing can only view the organization settings and the identities of other users for their organization.
Organization users do not have access to organization settings and organization users settings.
9. Patient
Patient users on PatientWing can search for studies as well as sign up for at least one study.
